Workplace support for survivors of gender-based violence

Survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking often risk losing their jobs or have difficulty finding a job due to consequences of the abuse.xv A person’s status as a survivor of gender-based violence should never be used against them, and individuals should have the right to take measures to safeguard themselves from abuse while maintaining their economic security. Abuse should not endanger their jobs or their ability to support themselves and their families. Survivors should be afforded reasonable accommodations to address the abuse and should have access to unemployment insurance if they have to leave their jobs to escape it.
